4.8 Wedding

Lincoln is very close to finishing this book. He's just typing up the dedication...

To my first love, perhaps my only one-

"Lincoln!" his mother calls from downstairs, "You need to get ready!"

It's finally their wedding day. It's freezing, but Tammi's so taken in by the aesthetics of it all that she ignores how cold her bare shoulders feel.

Tammi savours the kiss, finally feeling like her life is on the right track.

She's giddy throughout the event. Everyone tells her how beautiful the ceremony is, the snow-covered park behind them, her dress... nothing could ruin her good mood.

Not even the nearly frozen cake!

Lincoln, on the other hand, worries about his elderly father.

Evan says he's fine, but Lincoln has his doubts...

"I-I-It's s-s-s-o beautiful!" he manages to get out as his teeth chatter, "I wish I could've had a w-w-wedding like this!"

Lincoln taps the cake with his fork. It makes a solid clink sound. Just like hitting a block of ice...

Chau rolls her eyes. Of course her sister would choose an outdoors wedding in the winter. Not only is she the centre of attention today, but everyone has to massively suffer for her happiness. Typical.

Olivia and Evan leave early, both of them close to freezing.

"I thought my fingers were going to fall off," Olivia says with a shiver.

"It's a shame we left before the couple's dance," Evan sighs, "It was a very romantic idea..."

"Not worth hypothermia, though..."

"I don't think I've ever seen you smile so much," Lincoln teases.

"I'm happy, you dope! It's the best day of my life, after all..."

They sway closely, as much for warmth as for intimacy. "I think we've tortured these poor people enough... why don't we go home and warm up?" Tammi whispers into his ear.

They're only able to pull themselves off of each other the next morning.

"This is some very interesting food," Tammi looks at the spherical ball of dough skeptically.

"It's supposed to be nutritious-"

"It's like eating a baseball."

"A tasty baseball?"

"A weird, doughy one..."

"Have I ever told you that you're sexy when you complain?"

"Then I must be the most gorgeous woman you've ever met."

They both laugh.

"Lincoln, how would you feel about a honeymoon? We should go somewhere not so glacial."

Warmth? Sun? Sounds great!

"There's so much sand everywhere!" Tammi complains, "And you forgot to bring sunscreen."

Or maybe it won't be so great... Lincoln thinks with an eyeroll.

AN: I actually really like writing Tammi, but I had to feel for the household whenever she started picking fights with them!
