3.14 Brooding in Love

Ah, the struggles of a brooding sim in love.

He still hasn't found a way to bring up this parents issue with Heather. High school is nearly over and he still hasn't ever hung out at her house for more than an hour or so to do homework. He wonders what the matter is...

He sighs and picks himself off of his beach towel. The school bus will be here soon.

A while after the bus trundles away, Evan comes out to do some daytime star gazing. I'm really not sure why he does this in his underwear.

But he always gets dressed in time for work, or in today's case, a special occasion.

Today is Lincoln's birthday! No more books, tests, or pep rallies. Lincoln's pretty stoked.

He briefly thinks about using his wish for a solution to this strange problem he's having with Heather, but decides against it. He's sure with a conversation they can work it out.

He wishes for the schematics for a time machine instead.

And just like that, Lincoln is an adult man.

Everyone helps themselves to some cake...

"Oh, Mr. Nocturne, please, join me," Tammi offers politely.

"Um, thanks? You know you can just call me Felix, right? Or Mr. N?"

"Nonsense! Nonsense, you're a man of science! And you're older than I am! It's only proper."

Felix raises an eyebrow. What is this, the Victorian era?

Still, they both agree that it was a pretty fun party.

Heather leaves before Lincoln can corner her about this parents thing again. She wonders why he's so hung up on it- it's not like he'll have anything in common with them!

...and what if they don't like him? She doesn't know what she'd do if they disapproved of Lincoln. It's easier to just keep them apart.

"Happy birthday!"

"Thanks mom."

Olivia takes something out of her pocket and places it in Lincoln's hand.

"It's a strange seed I found in the graveyard the other day. I can't tell what it is. I thought you'd find it interesting."

Lincoln turns the seed over in his palm. It looks like an ordinary seed...

"I'll have a look. Maybe grandpa Felix will know?"

"Anyways, I hope you had fun today. I love you, Link."

"I love you too, mom."

As if wanting to interrupt this sappy moment, the food synthesiser decides to spray Olivia with liquid polymers.

"Thanks dad!" Lincoln receives a new bike lock.

"The bike itself should be outside on the bike rack."

"That's really nice of you...thank you."

Evan, of course, insists on a hug.

Lincoln goes to sleep that night content.

But he still needs to talk to Heather.

-------------------------------------------------------
AN: Heather always rejected Lincoln's flirty actions if her parents were around, I had to include it! She doesn't have the commitment issues trait or anything, though.

Generation 4 is now in effect! One of Lincoln's rolls is living green, which is why the house has bikes and a clothesline all of a sudden. I decided to phase it in slowly so that it doesn't seem too out of nowhere.
