Just like every morning, Sage
made her bed promptly and precisely. An orderly home made for an orderly mind,
she always said.
Ugh, but how about an odour-ly body? She winced as her own smell hit her nostrils. She
tried to avoid bathing at home because of the cheap atrocity of a bathtub
occupying her bathroom, but she couldn’t avoid it forever.
I swear, I am going to have that eye sore ripped out
someday…
Fresh and clean after a long
soak in the tub, Sage felt a bit better. She slowly ate her breakfast, mulling
over what she would do at work. The lighting was taken care of, Walter would be
handling the curtains today, and the band scheduled to play today had promised
to make it on time. She smiled; everything was running smoothly.
Although no official
promotion had been announced, Sage couldn’t help but notice that Ms. Lin had
begun sending a better car to pick her up in the mornings. Surely that meant
something, yes? Perhaps in informal work environments, there were informal
promotions, as well…
Promotion or no promotion,
the raise in her salary had certainly helped out. Sage had finally been able to afford a new guitar. Sure, she could have
bought a second-hand one from the consignment store, but who knew what kind of condition that would
be in? No, she needed a new guitar, just for her.
She
strummed experimentally on the strings. A sense of calm washed over her as she
plucked out a simple tune. She adjusted the strings as she went along on
auto-pilot. It had really been too long since she’d last held an instrument.
But
that time was no more.
AN: I forgot how little
happened to Sage during her initial weeks in Riverview…work, eat, shower… and
now with guitar playing!
Finally she could afford that guitar! Now the promotion shouldn't be too far off :)
